What are Facility Measurements?
Facility Measurements are geospatial calculations based on the GIS data you have integrated within KorTerra. Measurements include the Dig Site Overlap, Facility Proximity, and Boundary Overlap. These measurements are meant to give Field Technicians more insight into the complexity of a ticket so they can better manage their workload, prioritization, and locate more efficiently. It can help managers better balance workloads, and more effectively clear tickets.
Definitions
Dig Site Overlap - The total linear feet of facilities that overlap with the Dig Site (polygons or digbox).
Facility Proximity - If there is no Dig Site Overlap, we calculate how far away the nearest facility is from the Dig Site.
Boundary Overlap - The total linear feet of facilities that are within 700 ft of the Dig Site.
KTM Interface
These calculations can be viewed in the Ticket Details page of any ticket that has been transmitted after the feature was enabled.
Coming Soon: Facility measurements will also be available in the Field app in Q1 2025.
Compatibility
Facility Measurements works with your GIS data that we already have configured in KorTerra. We can integrate directly with your ArcGIS account, or you can provide shape files.
Facility Measurement Configuration
Accurate Facility Measurements are essential for both precision and safety. Before going live, our GIS team will work with you to confirm exactly which layers we already have integrated in KorTerra that should be included in calculations.
Selecting the right layers is critical:
Avoiding unnecessary data: For instance, we may not want overhead facilities to be considered in overlap calculations, since they are not buried.
Preventing safety risks: Missing a buried asset layer could result in showing “0 overlap,” even when facility lines actually cross the dig site.
By collaborating closely with your team, we ensure that every necessary layer is accounted for and that Facility Measurements are configured precisely to your specifications.
